Review: Make Time

A productivity book written by former Google and YouTube employees.

They make a good point that most productivity systems are too complex to stick with, which matches what I’m experiencing right now.

I like the idea of a highlight instead of the usual approach of picking the top 3 tasks to focus on. The highlight is more flexible and can be anything that gives you satisfaction at the end of the day. It could be a task, a project, or even just spending time with family.

The rest of the book is pretty straightforward, and most of the suggestions are already well-known.

Overall, I like what the authors propose, a well-balanced approach to managing time and energy. It’s not so overengineered that it becomes a hassle, but also not so simple that it fails to be useful.
